« Back Range Rover Evoque P300e R-Dynamic HSE
The Evoque is arguably the car that saved Land Rover – allowing people access to the premium Range Rover badge at a much lower price point.
It was also based on standard LR mechanicals but sold at a higher price, so was a big moneymaker too. Which is why you’d be forgiven for thinking nothing has changed with this new Evoque – if it isn’t broken, why fix it?
So to the casual observer, the new Evoque looks very similar to the old one, but in fact every panel is new. They’ve taken the new Range Rover family look of slimmer LED headlights and funky grille, added the Velar rear lights and bingo – same familiar shape but looking very 2020 and very modern.
It’s no longer than the old car but has a slightly longer wheelbase meaning more rear legroom, and that interior looks straight from the Velar.
This Evoque gets the very latest tech too - it has the long-awaited P300e hybrid powertrain. So to start off there's a 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 197bhp, but this is then combined with a 107bhp electric motor on the rear axle which allows an electric-only range of 41 miles - more than enough for most users' journeys.
What this means is you get all the performance you want, along with seriously good economy and emissions. It really is the best of both worlds and is the powertrain that the Evoque has been crying out for!
