This may be the baby of the 2-Series range, but you certainly wouldn’t know from looking at it. Visually it’s all but indistinguishable from the M240i and still shares lots of body parts with the incredible new M2!
Up front there’s an aggressive front bumper with large, triangular intakes and a wide, shallow kidney grille. There’s some lovely taught surfacing down the sides to the rear end as well, where the controversial back end looks its best here with two round exhaust trims and a tiny lip spoiler atop the bootlid.
Inside you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in an M4, given the dash and huge dual-screen infotainment setup with iDrive8 is exactly the same. Body hugging sports seats hold you in place, while the rear seats are genuinely usable by adults, and there’s even a large boot.
Being the base model, the 220i comes with the lowest power level at 182bhp and 300Nm, but it still feels sprightly with the RWD setup going through the 8spd auto gearbox and it’ll get almost 45mpg which is impressive!
M-Sport spec gets you 18” alloy wheels, M-Sport suspension, Cruise control, LED headlights, 3-zone A/C and parking sensors front and rear, so you really won’t be left wanting for spec either.
