Just when you thought Nissan were done making the GT-R faster year after year…..they are. Well, technically they are but their tuning arm Nismo aren’t. They’ve been tasked with creating the fastest GT-R yet and to coin and American phrase – they’ve knocked it out of the ball park. The 2014 GT-R Nismo is the most powerful, fastest and most dynamically impressive GT-R to date, and GT-R fans will know that’s no mean feat. First up are the bodywork changes.

Up front there’s a new front bumper with the large central vent spar in carbon fibre, vents just ahead of the front wheels and a large red-tipped carbon fibre splitter. This continues down the sides with extended side sills into the rear bumper which has a large carbon diffuser and carbon winglets at the bottom edges. Atop the boot lid sits a new large carbon wing, which when combined with all the new body addenda means the new Nismo GT-R produces 100 kg more downforce than the standard car at 186 mph.

But the real changes are under the skin. The 3.8 litre twin turbo V6 now produces 591 bhp and 481 lb/ft of torque which means 0 – 62 mph comes up in a scarcely believable 2.5 seconds on the way to the top speed which is expected to be over 200 mph for the first time. More impressive still is that this new Nismo GT-R has officially lapped the Nurburgring in 7 min 8.6 seconds, 10 seconds quicker than the previous model and quicker than exotica like the Lexus LFA Nurburgring by 6 seconds.

Chassis modifications include new rear anti roll bars, new springs, custom Bilstein dampers and special Dunlop tyres.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo goes on sale in early 2014 with a price tag around £115,000.
