Has Mercedes managed to make the best car in the world even better? They would like you to think so, and it’s not hard to see why.

Every area of the new S-Class has been improved, from looks to powertrain and even technology which we didn’t think could get any better than the last model!

So there’s a suspension that scans the road ahead and adjusts accordingly, rear-wheel steering for improved manoeuvrability, mild hybrid engines and even an augmented reality Head-Up Display that shows real time instructions for the sat nav directly in front of you on the road you need to turn down. Sci-Fi stuff!

The engine is the same 3.0 litre twin turbo inline-6cyl as the previous model, which gives effortless performance and surprisingly good economy, driving all four wheels now via the 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The exterior styling has taken a new direction, with slimmer lights and a more prominent grille, while the rear lights are like those on the CLA. But it’s inside where the biggest changes lie.

The new interior is dominated by the 12-inch portrait screen in the centre console replacing most of the buttons, while there’s another 12-inch widescreen display for the driver. It’s the first time Mercedes has gone all-screen for the controls, and it looks incredible.
