Has Mercedes managed to make the best car in the world even better?
Every area of the new S-Class has been improved, from looks to powertrain and even technology, which we didn’t think could get any better than the last model!
There’s a suspension that scans the road ahead and adjusts accordingly, rear-wheel steering for improved manoeuvrability, mild hybrid engines and even an augmented reality Head-Up Display that shows real-time instructions for the sat nav directly in front of you on the road you need to turn down. Sci-Fi stuff!
The engine is the same 3.0-litre twin turbo inline-6 cylinder as the previous model, which gives effortless performance and surprisingly good economy, driving all four wheels now via the 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The exterior styling has changed, with slimmer lights and a more prominent grille. The rear lights are like those on the CLA. But the most significant changes lie inside.
The new interior is dominated by the 12-inch portrait screen in the centre console, which replaces most of the buttons. There’s also another 12-inch widescreen display for the driver. It’s the first time Mercedes has gone all-screen for the controls, and it looks incredible.

Has Mercedes managed to make the best car in the world even better?
Every area of the new S-Class has been improved, from looks to powertrain and even technology, which we didn’t think could get any better than the last model!
There’s a suspension that scans the road ahead and adjusts accordingly, rear-wheel steering for improved manoeuvrability, mild hybrid engines and even an augmented reality Head-Up Display that shows real-time instructions for the sat nav directly in front of you on the road you need to turn down. Sci-Fi stuff!
The engine is the same 3.0-litre twin turbo inline-6 cylinder as the previous model, which gives effortless performance and surprisingly good economy, driving all four wheels now via the 9-speed automatic gearbox.
The exterior styling has changed, with slimmer lights and a more prominent grille. The rear lights are like those on the CLA. But the most significant changes lie inside.
The new interior is dominated by the 12-inch portrait screen in the centre console, which replaces most of the buttons. There’s also another 12-inch widescreen display for the driver. It’s the first time Mercedes has gone all-screen for the controls, and it looks incredible.
