« Back Hyundai i20N
The Ford Fiesta ST is the best small hot hatch on sale – but that might be about to change thanks to Hyundai’s N department.
The i30N surprised everyone with the great performance, looks, handling and noise and now Hyundai has turned their attention to the new i20 model with the i20N.
Starting with the looks, Hyundai have absolutely nailed it – the i20N has a deep, aggressive front bumper with a massive grille and low splitter, angular LED headlights and red trim extending around the body. There are a very nice set of alloys and some deeply sculpted side skirts, while the rear gets a high level raised spoiler and a functional diffuser. The interior looks just like the i30N too, which is great news.
Under the bonnet sits a 1.6 litre turbo 4-cyl, putting out 201bhp and 275Nm of torque to the front wheels via a 6-spd manual box. There’s even an optional limited slip differential. The key point about the i20N though, is that it weighs 70kg less than the Fiesta ST and has more power and torque, so you can expect it’ll certainly feel faster and be more nimble.
We can’t wait to get behind the wheel of this one and see if it can knock the crown off the King! And you could find out too by winning one in this week’s BOTB Midweek Car Competition!
