Bury gardener wins dream car and £60,000 cash competition

Dec 2023

Richard Cross, 48, who lives in Bury and works at Manchester Airport, won a BMW AutoID M2 TR87 worth £87,000 plus £60,000 cash that was stashed in the boot from BOTB (Best of the Best). The Dream Car Competition Winner received a visit from BOTB presenter Christian Williams at a showroom in Bolton who surprised him with the news. Richard said: “I am over the moon and feel very lucky to have won. I could never dream of winning something like this.

“The car is beautiful and I’m just so happy for my family. It’s going to take a few days for this to sink in.

“It would be nice to get an upgrade on my existing car which is on its last legs.”

The BMW AutoID M2 TR87 packs a punch with its unique look and top tier performance and features an aerodynamic body kit and "top-notch" performance parts. Richard, who was given the shock news surrounded by his family, said he was considering taking the cash alternative. He added: “I love the car, but I have been through a bit of a tough period, and it would be nice not having to worry about money.

“I have a big family and with work on the house to pay for, the mortgage and bills,

"I am not sure I can warrant having an £87,000 car parked on my drive.

“With Christmas around the corner, it means we might be able to splurge a little bit more on the kids.”

Christian said: “It was wonderful to be able to surprise Richard with this stunning prize surrounded by his family. “The car is amazing and I'm sure the money will come in handy, especially at this time of year.”

BOTB hands over the keys to a stunning dream car each week as well as a lifestyle prize. Winners have bagged Rolex watches, holidays and motorbikes in recent months.
